Thomas Carpenter received a Fulbright grant to research novel fuel cell components and renewable energy systems at the Universitetet i Agder in Norway. He aims to develop a highly energy-efficient component that will allow fuel cells to convert energy, which might otherwise be lost or wasted from traditional renewable-source power production.
No stranger to international travel, Carpenter noticed signs of drought and flood in his travels around the world which led him to focus his work on sustainable resources, specifically sustainable energy. As an undergraduate, he participated in biofuel and fuel cell research at Purdue and in Denmark. Carpenter was also active in Sigma Chi as part of Purdue’s robust Greek Life population.
He plans to continue conducting research on renewable energy-integrated fuel cell systems.
